In October and November we were learning about Water & Weather. We were able to do hands-on experiments, research wild weather and synthesize our learning through writing and mind maps. These projects are displayed in the school.
We continued with our exploration of human body. We’ve begun by examining the various systems that make us tick. The kids are working on models of these systems, including the respiratory, cardiovascular, skeletal and nervous system. Stop by the school and see these mini models hanging in the hallway. The next phase is about Human Growth & Development, in which we will be learning all about our growing and changing bodies as we enter puberty, self-image, self-esteem and personal hygiene.
In addition to all of our discoveries we’ve had the opportunity to learn about and participate in the care of our greenhouse dome. In the fall, prior to going to Cal-wood we harvested a bunch of vegetables, which the chefs at Cal-wood transformed into amazing salsas and sauteed vegetable dishes.
