Keep Class Sizes at Columbine Small
Please help us keep our classes small by registering Kindergartners and new neighborhood students as soon as possible. This will help the district decide how many students to Open Enroll and our staffing for the 2016-2017 school year. You can click on this link to enroll: LINK. Remember to print the form and bring it to Angie, our school registrar with the following documents: birth certificate, proof of vaccination, and proof of residence no older than three months (i.e. Excel bill, Comcast, lease, etc.).
Dear Parents and Staff at Columbine,
We would like to let you know about Columbine’s SAC advisory board. SAC stands for School Accountability Committee. As its name suggests, this group represents the goals and desires of parents, school staff, and the community within Columbine. The SAC group consists of 2 Spanish speaking parents, 2 English speaking parents, 2 teachers from Columbine, and 1 person from the community. We are an advisory board for Guillermo as he navigates the school year. As such, we are also a voice for you if you have concerns or suggestions that you want the administrators & faculty at Columbine to consider.
Some of the issues we address:
· Spanish as a World Language
· Class sizes and budgeting issues
· Anything you want us to talk about!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us – we will make sure your concerns are heard and addressed:
Each year there is turnover on the SAC group. We are therefore now looking for more people to help starting in Fall 2016. Please let us know if you have interest! We would especially love to hear from Spanish speaking parents to make sure we have involvement from the entire community.
All the best in 2016!
Will Stites and Francine Alberts
Is there anyone that would be able and willing to build a Calf Roping Dummy? I bought the head and the rope since we have a few cowboys and cowgirls that would like to practice during recess. But not being a cowboy, it wasn’t till the kids pointed this out that I realized that there needs to be a stand to support the head. I learn something every day. Here are a few samples from the internet.
Please take a minute to check out the following videos. One is about School Funding in Colorado and the other one is about How Childhood Trauma affects health across a lifetime. Please check it. Sometimes it is hard to explain what a student may be going through as these issues are highly confidential. I think this video will give you some insight into the challenges that some students have resulting from trauma.
