It was a cold and drizzly start to the day. The clouds hung low and the rain seemed unrelenting. Yet, despite the weather, parents and volunteers arrived to Columbine Elementary at day break to get the school ready. As students arrived the skies began to brighten, and when they paraded out from the gymnasium to the starting line the rain ceased altogether. Over the next half hour more than five hundred Columbine Elementary students would run the closed streets of North Boulder in the 38th running of the Columbine Mile Marathon.
